Meet Alexa Wernick, LCSW, ADHD-CCSP
Parenting can feel confusing and exhausting, especially when your child is struggling and nothing you try seems to work the way you hoped. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or worried about getting it “right,” you are not alone. Many parents come to me feeling stuck and searching for clarity, reassurance, and a path forward. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating, it can be a supportive, collaborative space where both you and your child feel understood, empowered, and hopeful.
I provide evidence-based therapy for children and adolescents, with a strong emphasis on parent coaching because meaningful change happens beyond the therapy room. I believe that when caregivers feel confident and supported, children are better able to grow, regulate, and succeed.
My work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, SPACE, Parent Management Training (PMT), and talk therapy to support children with anxiety, ADHD, social skills challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties. Sessions are engaging and developmentally appropriate, often incorporating creative arts and interactive activities so children can learn and practice skills in ways that feel natural, empowering, and effective.
Through parent coaching, I help caregivers respond to their child’s emotions and behaviors with confidence, consistency, and compassion—while building a more positive, connected, and calm home environment.
You may be a parent who wants to help your child but isn’t sure how. Your child may be anxious, emotionally reactive, struggling with focus or behavior, or having difficulty navigating friendships or school expectations. You might feel caught between what school recommends and what actually works at home, unsure how to support your child without escalating situations or feeling burned out.
What you’re looking for is clarity, practical tools that truly fit your family, and reassurance that you are not failing—you are learning. My goal is to help your child feel more confident, regulated, and successful, while helping you feel more confident in your parenting. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place!
